The Chicago Blackhawks would have never imagined trading the face of their franchise, in Patrick Kane. Things change however, as they were rumored to talk to five teams about trading the superstar.
Well, it looks like the rumors are true. The Blackhawks have traded Kane to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Phil Kessel and a 2016 thirst round draft pick. It appears that the Blackhawks didn't realize that, Kessel was already traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In an attempt to void the trade, the Maple Leafs said "No take backs"
To help the Blackhawks feel a little better about their clear lack of due-diligence, the Maple Leafs sent the Hawks a wonderful gift basket full of all kinds of fun stuff. The basket included a fruit cake, two bags of Cheeto's, a Tolberone bar, and a 10% off gift card for Tim Hortons.
In response to the gift basket, this is what Blackhawks management had to say...
"That gift basket is a joke! Why don't the Maple Leafs just make like a tree and get outta here!"
Better yet, we'll let Biff Tannen tell em.
